Complete your installation with our collection of subway tile shaped border and field tile. Custom order tiles in any glaze color to perfectly complement you decorative, patterned art tiles. Choose from one of our seven glaze colors. Any art tile pattern can be custom ordered with any glaze. Plan your project and have matching border and field tile made to order!
We originally designed our border and field tile to compliment our decorative tile patterns, but found that many people were interested in using these tiles as stand alone field tiles. When arranged in a subway pattern, these tiles can make a distinctive installation. The rich natural glaze colors that we developed for our decorative tile are also nice just as color fields, and you'll not find the depth and richness of color from large tile manufacturers using synthetic glaze ingredients. One of the beautiful aspects of ceramic glaze is the way it gathers light, and subtly changes under different lighting conditions. Because our glazes are custom mixed in house, we can easily change the hue, value and saturation by altering the percentage of glaze oxides. If you have a color in mind that you don't see offered here, please reach out to us. We love challenge, and satisfying customers requests for custom colors is always a rewarding endeavor.

If you've been looking shower tile for your biophilic bathroom design, then consider the Lush Grass pattern. This large format 7" x 12" rectangular tile captures the image of wet, thick grass just after a rain. Look closely at the detail, and you'll even notice droplets of water on the blades! Wether you choose to tile a small section on one of the walls of your shower, or line the entire enclosure from floor to ceiling with this tile, your daily shower routine will turn into a ritual that you look forward to. The biophilic design aesthetic seeks to make your bathroom into tranquil and serene space, surrounded by images of beauty from the natural world.
These tiles, like all Living Walls Tile, are made by hand, one at a time, in our small artisan tile shop in Missoula, Montana. Each tile is embossed with a subtle texture which when glazed with a tinted glaze, becomes filled, creating darker and lighter tones. This is an authentic process, no gimmicks, the texture is actually sculpted into the tiles! The lush green glaze, which is mixed in-house from our own original glaze recipe, is made from completely natural materials , such as feldspar and copper, which creates the beautiful, deep glaze surface. Our biophilic glaze colors are imbued with the natural colors of nature because they are mixed from natural ingredients!
To complete your shower tile designs, consider using our matching Border and Field Tile, which comes in varying widths and lengths and can be glazed with matching glaze. The Lush Grass Tile is also compatible in thickness with most commercial tile, and can be easily cut on a normal tile wet saw.
When assembled in a subway pattern, the individual reeds interlock on all four sides, creating the illusion of a thatched wall of grass. The visual depth that is created on this art tile is achieved by first embossing a texture into the wet porcelain clay. The rich green glaze pools in the recesses creating areas of darker value. Run your fingers along the smooth surface of this art tile and you will feel the underlying texture. Size, 7" x 12", never needs watering!
When ordering these tiles online, please take careful notice that there are four different tiles that complete the pattern. They are designed this way to break up the repetition of the pattern and create an illusion that you are actually looking into a field of wheat. Please study the numbered photo and order the appropriate number of each tile. If you have questions about how the pattern is assembled, or would like to order this tile in a glaze color not offered in our online shopping cart, please give us a call at 406 728 5536.
