Looking For Bathroom Design Ideas?
Why not start with this artistic, handcrafted tile backsplash? The rest of your bathroom design will fall into place when you invest in these tiles. The beautiful Caribbean Turquoise, or Deep Blue glaze will create a focal point for all of your bathroom remodel ideas to be built around.
These tiles, while contemporary in design, are made using authentic and traditional techniques used by Arts and Crafts Tilers in the late 18800's and early 1900's. Each tile is made by hand in our small artisan studio in Missoula, Montana. We start by embossing a very subtle texture into the wet porcelain clay, that varies in depth up the 1/8". The texture is then flooded with a tinted color glaze, which when fired, pools in the recesses and recedes from the edges, leaving behind a subtle pattern in the surface of the tile.
The tiles seam together, edge to edge, to create a continuous image of a peaceful stretch of open water. Paired with our matching color Border and Field Tile, these decorative patterned tiles can be tailored to fit your bathroom design ideas. For small bathroom remodels, look at the smaller 6" x 10" version of this tile.
Oriental Wave Tile Pattern
Based on the traditional Japanese Hokusai
prints and paintings, this versatile pattern can be used in a variety of applications. Pictured here in a kaleidoscopic orientation, this tile can inspire you to play and have fun with your walk in shower ideas. Use it in a single row as a simple backsplash, or fill your entire shower with the swirling energy of the ocean! Whether your shower plans involve a full floor to ceiling use of patterned decorative tile, or just a band of color and pattern, this tile can accommodate.
The depth and fluidity of ocean waves are captured in the translucent glaze of this tile. The pattern is not printed on the tile, rather it is embossed into the wet porcelain clay while the tile is still wet. The subtle texture that is left behind is then flooded with tinted turquoise, deep blue or stone gray glaze. In the kiln firing, the glaze melts and pools into the texture, leaving behind varying thicknesses. This is what creates the varying shades of color. All of our glaze recipes are mixed in house in our Missoula, Montana studio. They are the result of years of testing to achieve the subtle color variations, which are derived from natural oxides from the earth, such as copper and cobalt. These deep rich colors are not available anywhere else.
To complete your walk in shower ideas, consider our Border and Field Tile, which can be glazed in a matching glaze color to our patterned tile. This tile is also compatible with most commercial tile. Please note however, that the actual size of each tile is 5 7/8" x 5 7/8", which is slightly smaller than most true 6" x 6" tile. The Oriental Wave tile can also be easily cut on an ordinary tile wet saw, making installation a breeze.
Framed with beautiful dark ash wood frame, these animal tiles will fit with any home decor, from traditional to contemporary in design. The crisp black and white graphics are created from original woodblock carvings by David Regan. Look closely, and you'll notice details that the artist has included, such as the eyes of would be deer hunters, hidden in the leaves of the tree. These graphics are rendered in fired on glaze, making the tiles both durable and beautiful. Perfect both for wall hanging and trivet use
